Wayne May – Evidences of Hopewell/Nephite Correlations
Bruce H. Porter – A Modern-Day Title of Liberty; Covenants Upon This Land
Richard Moats, A Hopewell Celestial Observatory, A pilgrimage to the upper world.
Richard is an ordained minister in the International Church of Jesus Christ. Hopewell Culture, Site history, Site description and Archaeology, alignments and archeoastronomy, Visual Alignments, The Pilgrimage, Interpretation, Cross Cultural Similarities.
Woodland Period 500 BC – 500 AD. Adena 500 BC to 300 AD. Hopewell Culture was 200 BC – 500 AD. physiologically Hopewell similar to Adena. They were different people however. Different belief system. Time of Christ’s death seems to be the time of the Hopewell flourishing.
Centered in Ohio, characteristics include major earth works and burial mounds. Not all Hopewell could have possibly been buried in mounds. Only the important members of society. Early farmers in Ohio had little respect for the mounds that were flattened during farming. Hopewell cremated their dead and interred their ashes in the mounds. Some mounds are full of ashes and artifacts which are now scattered across the world. The long linear earthworks creating geometric patters and ridges contain very few burials. Moundsville in W. Virginia and another site are prolific burial centers.
The site: 39 54 01 N, 82 2032 W, 1027 Ft. ASL. Farm built on top of it. Considered a relatively high altitude site. All that has remained is the features in a small patch of woods. the rest is all plowed under. 90% of the site destroyed by the farmer. Site is 30 miles southeast of the Newark earthworks. Three Salisbury brothers did some work here and produced a quad map. Richard put the design, facts from historical accounts, put it into CAD program. The area is all terminal moraine, glacial till. Very rocky.
Light Detection and Ranging: LiDAR. System of high altitude spying used in early 80′s. This technology is used in scientific circles to conduct surveys of ground. Laser beam shot down and return to plane, enough beams go to the ground and see through the trees and foliage. In LiDAR you can see more features, and they connect to the plot map drawn in the 1800′s by the Salisburys. Projecting it on to the aerial image you can see where the berms were.
The comparisons of the data plot to the Salisbury’s map were using magnetic north, not true north. Then there have been at least 11 degree shift in magnetic field of the Earth. When matching the Salisbury corrected, they come very close.
Azimuth: cardinal directions, 360 degrees. Hopewell didn’t have compass but they knew the cardinal directions. Two circles are lined up in perfect true north alignment. Basic unit of measurement: 25.27 inches. Eclipse data shows only one total solar eclipse every 360 years. over 200 total lunar eclipses during this time period.
Looking at the 3-D topo of the site, there are 6 observation points on six different levels. Computing observation angles of a 5’6″ man, 5′ eye level, plug into the trig application and determine the degrees of observation for each platform. some are plus 3 degree, minus 3 degrees, others are +1 degrees.
Looking straight east, there is a mound 2.4 miles away. Roberts Mound excavated in 1904 and is Adena, much older than the Hopewell observatory. There was a partially cremated skeleton. The mound has lost 9 feet in height due to digging and erosion. From 2.4 miles away it looks like a triangle on the horizon. Looking at 90 degrees due east. This was a marker between Summer Solstice and winter solstice with the mound in the middle. The equinoxes were right on the mound. The effigy of the spread eagle seems to be a representation of the sun rising behind the mound 2.4 miles away.
Sometimes the visible planets would rise behind the mound as well. It takes a lot of data crunching to follow the moon on it’s 18.6 year cycle. To see when a crescent moon would rise behind the mound, which would more perfectly represent the effigy.
In the other direction, 4.2 miles away is a great stone mound. These coordinates and azimuths determined the size of the inner circle, measuring the min and max moon rises and sets. The central circle is clearly oriented to the moon. From other vantage points the sun will set on the equinoxes. The great stone mound covered 5 Hopewell burial mounds. Early settlers pulled it down to build a reservoir dam. The “holy stones” were found here.
One causeway would frame Orion on winter solstice evening, as Orion rose. From another platform you would see Orion directly above the large circle. The visual planets pass between Orion and another star. The other causeway would frame Orion on winter solstice morning as it set. On different dates, many of the planets arose out of the Roberts mound and followed the equatorial plane.
The Pilgrimage: The Hopewell look at the four directions on their flat ground. In the underworld were fish, water, snakes, alligators, pike, and the dead. Above, is the spirits, birds, sun, moon, stars, planets. They believed in the axis vertically. They could light fire and watch the smoke rise up through a vector to the world above. The smoke from their dead would rise to the upper world. Instead of burying in the Earth like the Adena, the Hopewell did above surface burials in mounds. They didn’t want their dead in the lower world. At least the important people anyway. Moorehead couldn’t dig past the ash in some maps. Some believe you’ll find sub-surface Adena ash under the above surface, or in-mound ash of Hopewell.
Perhaps the shamans would travel up the hill into the observatory as if entering the higher kingdom. There were “blocking” mounds directly inside the entrances. Perhaps they believed that evil spirits had to travel in straight lines.
The observatory was focused on sun, moon, constellations, planets. This alignments marked solstice and equinox, marking rituals, agricultural events. Site of ancestral veneration. All this is based on circumstantial evidence of course. Nevertheless, the presenter is certainly convinced in his conclusions.
Gary David: Hopi and Anasazi oriented their villages to alignments of Orion and other constellations. Robert Bauvals: Egyptian pyramids aligned to starts and Orion. Upstate New York contains a wall representing Draco superimposed on the ground.
Negra Sky Disk, 30 cm bronze inlaid gold in germany. Shows night sky, moon, stars, full moon, crescent moon, Pliedes, sun boat, two arcs. Circa 1500 BC. There are alignments. Roarie Starbuck: Esdil and Kimah are Plaeiades and Orion.
Roger Jewel: Ancient Mines of Kitchi-Gummi (Lake Superior)
Lake Superior area. 5000 ancient copper mines created in this area. The Bronze Age in Europe may have been supplied by a steady supply of copper from the New World, particularly the northern peninsular of Michigan. Ancient Minoan artifacts in Crete and Minoa show massive export of copper from North America and used by the ancient Minoans in the Old World.
1846 Squier & Davis work, showed detailed maps or pre-farmed locations.
Isle Royale contains hundreds of mines and excavations. These were both exploratory and production mines. The bottom of most mines contained copper veins. Miners in the area told fantastic stories of ancient traces of mining techniques, shafts, etc. There was a story about a 6 ton copper mass supported on wooden cribs. Copper knives and spear points that were attached to wooden shafts by rivets. Some spear points are quite unusual. by the 1880s Michigan was getting civilized and artifacts began piling up. Farmers found many buyers for the odd stones they found and at times they indeed resorted to counterfeiting for profit. the counterfeiting has placed the whole region and its related artifacts under doubt within scholarly circles.
In 1896 some wood cutters found a baked clay tablet and 3 statues under a downed tree near Newberry MI. The tablet has a grid with a character in each square. About 12 by 15 grid. Academia and the Smithsonian allegedly began to cover up this evidence of antiquity due to Native American conflict. So the materials were deemed faked and forgotten about. The same thing happened to 15,000 artifacts.
George West, a Milwaukee Attorney in 1928 was on the board of the Milwaukee Public Museum from 1906-1938. In 1928 he took a trip to examine the mines on Isle Royale. He published a small book on the copper culture with some photos of artifacts.
In the 1930s and 40s nobody realized the age of the mines. There were ladders and bags down under the water in the bottom of the mines, so people thought they weren’t that old. In 1930, Roy Drier a professor of metallurgy began collecting copper. they published book claiming half to 1.5 billion pounds of copper had been removed from Isle Royale. Book published in 1961.
In 1950s carbon dating put the mines at over 1,000 years BEFORE the Hopewell culture. 2470 BC is the earliest mine, all the way down to 1050 BC, and smaller amount in 850 BC. In the Mediterranean they shifted to iron around 1000 BC, because copper wasn’t hard enough. Thus the drop in the production from the Minoan mines.
Who used copper 4300 years ago? It was the time of Sumerians, Minoans, and Egyptians. (2,400 BC). Highlands of Turkey (Hittites?) There was some in England but still related to these three cultures. Bronze was the predominate metal during this time, predating steel. In Europe this was the time of the Megalithic cultures: Stonehenge and the Bell Beakers.
There was a huge stone in Sault Ste Marie. There was a large stone at Devil’s Island, named by Jesuit priests. There was a large stone there with a notch in it, sitting on a stone island in the North Channel. it was resting on other stones to hold it upright. Dolmen are big balanced stones made by people. there is now in new york, called Balanced Rock. Some say a glacier did it. You can see shims under the bigger supporting rocks. He thinks they slid the big rock on ice in winter, and it melted down.
Jim also found an eye of God symbol north in Canada’s Lake Superior Provincial Park. Some stones had Ogham carvings, an Irish numbering system. The path goes down in between a gap, that looks like a carved quarry void. The symbol is a circle with a line in the middle, like a bisected circle. The suns rays illuminate this mark on the equinoxes. The cut is east/west. There were notches on the other side of the cut on top. At mid day the sun shines down through. The shadow came down the wall and came right across the symbol. Two days later it moved up four inches too high.
He has found marker stones along a MN river to mark location.
Get rest from notes.
Donald Yates – Evidence for Middle Eastern Roots of Native American Religions
Archaeologists have to work hard to discredit those who propose contrary ideas regarding the North American mound builders. Donald is a practicing Jew. Several years ago it seemed that DNA testing disproved the Book of Mormon. At last year’s conference a genetic marker in Cherokee indians was traced to the eastern Mediterranean. Most academics lump Native American religions in with pantheonism, animism and shamanism. Most of these ideas are traced back to a dead Swedish professor whose word is considered the end of the debate. Name was Hultkrantz. He proposed all Native Americans shared the following: Hunting ceremonies, agricultural cermonies, Visions and dreams, Animal totems, Shaman or medicine man, Offerings made to spirits (animism). Wikipedia has all this regurgitated. All this was supposedly brought over Bering Straight from Mongolia and Asia. No priesthood. Offerings to spirits.
Indians supposedly had no writing. The Davenport tablet was found in the 19th century but subsequently lost/destroyed. Barry Feld studied it and determined it had Egyptian hieroglyphs, Phonecian and Hieratic. Similar to the Rosetta stone in a way. in 800 B.C. there were Egyptians, Libyans and Phonecians living in a colony in North America. Last year, there was an academic expose on the Davenport tablet.
Grave Creek Mound, West Virginia. one of the largest mounds, typical of the Adena culture. The Grave Creek Stone, W.V. most controversial relic. This was declared an example of Phonecian writing, then the Smithsonian reviewed it, lost it and buried it again. Excavated in spring of 1888(?). It was held as authentic. The writing …. Celt-Iberian astrological text found in Spain.
Los Lunes Decalogue stone
Elite burials in Native American sites, buried with lots of grave goods. Copper blade in a scabbard. Steel bow found, 5-6 feet long near Blacksberg Virginia. Large mirror found made from mica, with the back constructed of iron.
Copper axe exactly like the old Europe megalithic cultures.
Native Americans are not supposed to have any of this stuff according to modern scholarly archaeologists.
Copper insignia hair decorations, and national emblems.
What was the purpose of the mounds? For now, let’s look further than the mounds and look at the religious side of the Native Americans: the female side of religion, matriarchy. Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly. Most magnificent Earth mother site in the world. Many rock clefts are marked and are symbolic of the birth canal. One near Cedar Creek outside St. George, UT. Marija Gimbutas, Archeologist of the mother Goddess. In 3000 BC religion turned to male-dominated, warlike images, due in part to metal development. This caused some departure from female-oriented religious concepts. Gimbutas has never been discredited. She explored female oriented religious iconography: Chevron and V as Bird Goddess, zigzag and M sign for nurturer, meander and waterbirds, breasts of the bird goddess, streams eyes of the goddess (owl) and open mouth of the Goddess. Giver of crafts: spinning, weaving, metallurgy, music. Ram, animal of Bird Goddess, net motif, triline and power of three. Snake, earth mother, power of two, male gods and daimones, symbols of death, egg, columns of life, regenerative vulva, ship of renewal, frog, hedgehog and fish, bull, bee and butterfly, spiral, lunar cycle, snake coil, hook and axe, opposed spirals, etc. long list.
Pottery motif of tri-line and double swirl in Arkansas and Alabama, symbols of Gods. In neolithic passage tomb, newgrange, the same motif is found. In Southern AZ , Hohokam. (Hopi language is similar to ancient Egyptian.) This area reminded them of home. They left petroglyphs. Painted rock is here, a Hohokam site, a fertility site. In Hawaii and Kentucky are similar motifs of the Emergence Petroglyph. The Hawaiian islands were the center of the Twister clan. The Hapla Group B is Native American lineage that didn’t come from Bering Straight land bridge, rather came from SE Asia. The Hopi and Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, share this trait. These rocks weren’t art. They were signs of religious shrine.
Geophagy, women craving minerals during pregnancy. They would grind out the rock and eat it. Rock cups worn in rocks (also called pica, desire to ingest non-food) where the women gathered. The Adena culture in Ohio also exhibits rock cups. Some found in England. Rhinehart College in Georgia has a rock with cups.
Images of Mother Goddess among American Indians. The Goddess has three phases: virgin (Dianna), married (Hera), and wise (Crum). Celts turned the Crum into witches. Missouri deer woman staff compares to Lithuanian Elk Doe Cult Staff.
Pregnant woman effigies are common on both sides of the Atlantic.
Puebloan greathouses, like the 5 story Pueblo Bonito reflect some old world architecture.
The Portsmouth group in KY, a Hopewell site. Found here were not religious artifacts, rather manufacturing and trading sites. 300 pounds of obsidian, thousands of sheets of mica. In Pueblo Bonito were found thousands of turquoise beads and parrot feathers. Perhaps trade was considered religious. Trade circles: no talking allowed, trade director, barter only, no money, WYSIWYG, All sales final, just and equitable.
On Green River in Edmonton, a rock shelter overlooking the river, is a pictograph on back wall, showing a trade circle with a buffalo in center and other goods around the outside. A symbol of a lodge and other items nearby. Copper oxhides or might be actual hides. The trade director is nearby. Here it was blue paint clan member, of the Cherokee.
At Bandelier Nat. park NM, there is Quetzalcoatl Cave. Ogam writing, looks like stick writing from the Mediterranean.
Ingots shaped like oxhides, similar between Tennessee and Crete. Go back to Phonecians. Made of copper. Some ingots were quite large, like the oxhindes mentioned earlier.
The Phonecians carelessly left their weights. The writing on them says “two measures of XX” These were found in burial site sand trading sites. The Phonecians left pointed hat images, symbols of the merchant. Found in Tennessee and Spain, very similar looking.
How do we know if the Phonecians were really here? Celt-Iberian headdresses carved on women heads in stone. There are symbols of Phonecia and Crete not found in other cultures. These symbols are found here. There are north Africa and Colorado based petroglyphs that are very similar. Lake Superior seals have washed up. Hermas was a god from Greece, whose likeness has been found in Cumberland river, Kentucky. These were boundary stones related to fertility rites. Also had beards in the images.
Phoenicians made thousands of masks, used for home decor. Cherokee Paint Clan Mask in North Carolina, compare to Phoenician masks.
Bull, Bee, Butterfly attributes of Phoenician mother goddess. similar symbols are found in neolithic cave art, between Minoan seals and ancient American relics (Adena).
Mysterious tablets dug up at Adena sites. The Larken tablet. The imagery of bulls horns, circles, swirls, vulva, match many illustrations in the Gimbutas book about the Goddesses of Phonecians. Allen tablet. Weird looking tablets. Bull horns, flower motifs. These are indicated in Cretan religion.
Mississippian religious medal, showing Brbr language, forbidden in North Africa. tifanegg? Mound in Georgia. Fertility goddess amulet. Buried clutched in hand of female skeleton, at cemetery in TN. Pointed add like Phonecia.
Harbor at Carthage, capital of Phonecia. The circular pattern is familiar of the mound configurations. The port could hold 2,000 ships. A Phoenician ship could hold several hundred tons of cargo. the Romans destroyed Carthage by 132 BC. Phoenecians = Paint people. Cherokees are the paint clan.
Anomalous Cherokee lineages (DNA) from Israel, Haplogroup X, north African U, T, Iberian H, Jewish J, K, Anatolian N, etc.
The Phoenicians called themselves KHNAI, Caananites. Kanaai tribe in America and Conoi river.
Other name links: Hopi, Hohokam, sea people.
Melungeons, Southern Appalachia natives, are descendants of Jews, Phonecians, Muslims, Cherokee Indians. These people fled the inquisition. the Cherokee celebrate Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashana. Call them day of atonement and head of the year.
Steve Shaffer
Many maps created by Spanish explorers. Some maps have symbols on them that are Nimbian (sic?). The Spanish marked their trails, maps and routes with markings on trees, rocks and stone cairns. There are native symbols that pre-date the Spanish explorers. Some Spanish explorers were into Utah prior to Escalante and Dominguez. Some trees have maps carved on them. Many mines were dug into the Uintah mountains. Zheng He treasure ship from Cina, a four hundred foot boat that was four times longer than Columbus’s St. Maria. Zheng He had captured strange white men on the shores of N. America and used them as slaves.
Los Lunas inscription stone, evidence of ancient visitors predating Columbus.
key symbol, aka the water glyph. This symbol is four feet long, two inches wide and two inches deep. the symbols are flat on the ledges, flat on the ground. They are found throughout the southwest, Arizona strip, etc. They all have a hole on either side of the long line. They could be pointers or sight finding devices. However, they don’t appear to line up to anything. Some have been found that are really old and badly eroded. They all have holes. The tail goes off a ledge on all of them. They look like a lolly pop shape. Some key symbols are double ringed. Down by Mt. Trumbull and a nearby cave contains “space people.” There are lots of crosses found down in the area.
In Bond Judd’s ranch, were found 4 giant men over 7 feet tall. Their hands and feet were cut off, no artifacts, sealed with blue clay from Paige, AZ. They left one of the bodies in place.
A man in a Uintah basin found an old Aztec copper bowl in a hole in the Uintas, while looking for his dog. The hole/cave has since caved in. Some Roman coins were found in an old mine in the Uintas. Could these coins have been dropped by Spanish? Or were Romans here long before? A mining engineer claimed the mine was ancient, predating Spaniards.
Thunderbird down by Gunnison on Hwy 89, gets painted every year by the Ute tribe.
Hieroglyphic panel, with reformed Egyptian-looking panels. Nevada, Colorado, CA, ID, NM, AZ. Some claimed a find in WY. There even appear to be some Mayan glyphs. There are also horse petroglyphs. There is a rock panel in Nephi, on a cliff. There is an ank and a sun cross, looks like a sn cliff. Behind it is another panel with another ank. It doesn’t appear to be anything to do with Native American.
Chalk Creek panel by Fillmore. This panel encompasses a great area of hundreds of miles. Some try to make it a Nephite panel. Now Steve doesn’t think it is a Nephite panel. Now missing, up above to the left was an all seeing eye, now sitting in the forest service office in Fillmore.
In New mexico a panel with a skull and universal symbol for war.
Some panels might be copycats, because they contain very authentic signs but contain people with brimmed hats and guns or sticks. Hands, inverted infinity signs, are common.
Panels in Cedar City, south of Parowan Canyon, in a small canyon. The petroglyphs there talk about a shipwrecked people stranded for a long time. The whole canyon talk about this people trying to escape into the mountains. Across the freeway, you find this panel, which is the beginning of a panel. Someone chisled out the symbols.
Manti site, behind the Manti temple. The glyphs are badly eroded. The site contains an upside man, a death sign. It has to do with a burial. On the other side of the draw there are other signs where the Oolite stone was quarried.
There are Libyan signs in the Uintah basin, in the Book Cliffs in a very remote area. The Midwest epigraphic Society. The interpretation is Five men wounded and died, in a straight line, they lie here. Elsewhere there was a reported cave with a mosaic on the floor.
Many of the hieroglyphics are found on the shores of the ancient remnants of Lake Bonneville. Much of Eastern Utah was underwater, around 5,000 feet elevation. The east edge tracks the I15 corridor, roughly. Keep your eyes open around 5200 feet.
The Ogham script is prevalent in AZ and Utah. The AZ strip contains them. Some say they are sharpening marks. Another Ogham script in the little muddy, on the San Raphael. The script looks angular and straight lines, looks like lines, arrows and basic. Close to burials. There is a Spanish war scene, fighting Indians. Canyon de Chelly is eviscerated by modern native American vandalism.
Down by Richfield and Parowan, next canyon south of Parowan gap.
In the desert is a panel that points to a hidden vault. They found cuneiform lead tablets, in Utah. This was cuneiform that was not conforming with normal cuneiform, so it looks like a local dialect. One lead tablet was rolled up. The Michigan tablets contain identical marks. The scrolls were found in a stone box. Later when he returned to the site, there was an oil well sitting on top.
Millcreek tablet found in east Salt Lake. It is a plate containing strange marks. A boy was dragging a dead deer off the mountain and dislodged a rectangular stone sticking out. it is a metal plate with writing on it. one of the oldest cuneiform scripts known. The metal is silver and other alloys that are not identifiable. It is exactly one mile from the end of the pavement. The uncle and father destroyed all rocks with any marking on them, hoping to protect the area.
Down by Manti, a man named Stock. there was a septic system, and when hooking to the city sewer, he found a circular tomb, make out of rocks. On top of it were there long rocks, three of them. Two of the rocks fell down in the hole and the third was covered in markings. The rock has compass and square on it. On west side of Sanpete valley, there were two lead tablets in a corner stone of a structure that contain the same markings as were on the tomb stone.
There is a Dolmen set up near Fish Lake, high up on the ridge. there is a pedestal six feet tall. The stone is 10-15 tons. There are other groups of rocks, megaliths, that point to it. There is a carved passage below, a causeway structure. Not far above is another smaller Dolmen. Other Dolmen exist on west side of Sanpete valley. Rock walls, pointer rocks, little dolmens and cairns. There are deep inscriptions on some of them, appearing to me trail markers.
Chalk Creek Panel near Fillmore. It appears near a commerce area, dealing with a king. Some signs appear in northern Mesoamerica in the 600 AD period. Some mixture of Asiatic script, perhaps Mongolian influence. Some similar text found in KY and OK. Three glyphs are the Skulls, like those found in Alabama. There is a house sign, pyramid or stella. Another sign means blue sky niche. Barrows peak, part of the whole panel area, west of Salina.
Window monuments: stacked rocks with window in them, near Richfield, Sigurd, etc. Many now toppled but are significant because they look at something significant. Testing done on the lichen, based on lichenometry, show these structures are old.
Yin-Yang originated in Mongolia. it was two fish, seeing everything. Chinese later adopted it.
Buddhist art shows hand positions called Mudras which is Sanskrit for Seal or Sign. each mudras has specific meaning. there are ancient rock maps showing mountain peaks in the Chalk Creek area. Chalk Creek panel does not resemble any of the characters on Anthon script.
Kentucky oil lamps match those found in Utah. Utah’s Aagard Lamp, found in hwy 6 when digging a berm for the highway. Made of alabaster found in n. Carolina, probably a trade item. Might date to 600 AD.
Johny Brewer was arrow head hunting, found several caves and found a cave with sarcophagus, with bodies in sarcophagi and there were boxes of records. There were ancient records in there. The Spaniards left armor there. There was a mummy man and woman, red hair, seven feet tall, signs and sarcophagi. They drew sketches, blond hair woman. Boxes in the tomb were limestone with pegs in the lids, covered in pitch and cedar bark. plates inside with inscriptions on the metal plates. Copper plates, and lead. Epigraphers have identified 12 different scripts in this collection. horse and Chariot on one of the box, like the Michigan tablets. Paul Chessman had a lot of it and much of it is now in the BYU collection. 1500 BC is the age of all this stuff.
Dry Fork canyon in Eastern Utah. Archaeologists call them Fremont, but may not be. Many panels on a self guided tour. The style of figures are trapezoidal, common to eastern Utah, Green River area. Many appear to be carrying severed heads and wear large headdresses.
Three Kings panel in Dry Fork canyon. James Harris wrote an article on the Three Kings Panel. Title of Liberty ties. the three kings panel shows an armored person with a large round object with a pole sticking out. next is a slave sign. Some think this is Nephite, some say it is Libyan. A sword found in a tomb from the Ute reservation. There was a rock art panel with a sword on the back of Chief Big Foot, the person had large feet. 1500 BC.
Old copper bowl with Negev script, that says: he will rescue, he will deliver, to accomplish for one of the flock. Negev script is old Hebrew.
Orderville, Steve dug an old lamp out of a carbon vein. Carbon collects gold. In the carbon vein he found the old lamp.
Cottonwood canyon, by Blanding on the Ute reservation. The panel has a Hittite Sun Cross. There are stone tepees with space ships going up to the stars. Branded. Giant mummies in UT, NV, evidence of cannibals. In Utah is Witches Knoll, by Ephraim. There are underground rock dwellings and mass burials in the north end. A Utah Stonehenge, lines up with Dolmens, between Loa, Fishlake and Parker mountain.
David A. Christensen. One Nation Under God.
First Counselor in Oquirrh Mountain temple presidency. Travels on LDS Book of Mormon tours on Carnival Ecstacy. He is partial to believing that the Book of Mormon setting in the North American continent. The connection to the United States is too important to overlook. Land of Promise spoken of in 1 Nephi. J. Ruben Clark: This land had Garden of Eden, Adamondiahman, where Adam shall again return. The New Jerusalem will be built. It is here the restoration occurred. It is all significant. THIS land, where the Constitution governs. Of course North and South and Central America can be viewed as Zion when referenced in the Book of Mormon. However, this country is singled out in the prophecies and covenants made with the Nephites. Isaiah said, out of Zion shall go forth the Law. This is the Constitution, which is for the whole world. It is really a problem that here in Utah are so Mormonish, so LDS. How can the world survive without the leaven of the loaf being distributed? We are isolationist almost. His son heard people talking in restaurant saying, how bad it was that they had to live among non-LDS. What a terrible mind set. This country depends on our nation being a God-fearing nation. If we worship Jesus Christ, the God of this land, we will be blessed. LDS in Utah are too inward facing, they don’t get it. We are members of this great nation and share a great heritage. if you are not LDS that’s great. We need to accept people for who they are, love them, work with them, and believe we can make our country better.
His thesis was on the speaking style of Ezra Taft Benson, 1943-1968.
Focus on pride, overcome it. Referring to President Benson’s talk on pride. Pride is the great stumbling block to Zion, to SLC, to Provo, to all of our nation. Get rid of the damnable fire that we think that because we belong to the true Church that it makes us better.
Steven Smoot: Demographic Winter
See documentary on BYU TV on April 16. Translated into seven languages and already shown in Russia and on Catholic channel three times.
The declining birthrate is the single greatest threat to the economic stability of the world economy. Decline of the natural family and below replacement fertility rates are leding the world into a demographic tipping point, called a “Demographic Winter.” This is essentially a period of inactivity or decay relating to the dynamic balance of a population and the capcity for expansion or decline.
Harry Dent wrote “The Great Boom Ahead.” about the baby boomers. Never in hisoty have economic prosperity accompanied by declining populations, paraphrased from Adam Smith. Many countries won’t replace the prior generation.
Population still growing today because the average life span is lengthening. International policy related to families has an impact. In Russia, Putin and Medvedev have been interested in this topic. Russia is well below the replacement rate. Predicted that by 2050, losing 1 million people a year, the population of Russia will decline by 1/3. 2.3 million abortions take place in Russia for every 2 million live births. How will they secure their borders and replenish the military? Who will work the farms? How does this impact the future? Obviously Putin is focused on economic and security factors. Three Russian policies were developed: $9,000 benefits for women having second child, plus 6 months paid leave from work. For third child, the woman gets land and farm. One reason capitalism didn’t take off in Russia is because they didn’t provide private property rights. Third, the government will provide day care for children of working mothers. These policies may encourage more live births by addressing some economic concerns faced by young mothers and young parents.
We will see this in China. The One-Child Policy has turned their population pyramid upside down. One child each couple, after two generations, that child supports six people: two parents and four grandparents. That is a tough load to pull with social security benefits. The preference toward boys, you have 100 million men who will not be married b/c not enough women to go around. There have been 17 million infanticides of baby girls. China is now reevaluating their One Child Policy.
When you reverse the purpose of this Earth, bringing children into the world, you get hash results. The indoctrination of oper population, unsustainability, fewer carbon foot prints to pollute the Earth, leads to the sacrifice of children which are the life blood and human capital needed for growth and sustainability.
The entire population of the world could have 1/4 acre each, and still fit within 4/5ths of just Brazil. That leaves the rest of the planet uninhabited. So why can’t we sustain ourselves? With today’s ingenuity and technology why can’t we sustain population growth going forward? With all the advances in technology, we can’t provide the way to feed ourselves going forward? In universities today students are indoctrinated with claims that the world is in danger of over population. Global warming ties right back to over population. Political and social agendas are well served with the fear generated by these claims. Social engineering is alive and well in the UN. Have we been duped as a society?
During WWII women were in the workforce on both sides of the war. After the war, the Japaniese women stayed working. Much of America came home and had te baby boom. By the 80s the Japanese suffered due to the lack of human capital – 80% decline in stock market, and a 60% decrease in real estate values across the board. Now it is the United States turn. These documentaries cover this material.
U.N. Resolution language: Family unit is the fundamental unit of society and should be protected. Countries now need to turn and look at the current policies they have and the hard questions about what kind of future they want to attain.
David Beagley: Adam-ondi-Ahman: A sacred site for multiple dispensations.
He’s employed by LDS Travel. he’s watched for 4-5 years to unite the efforts out there to claim North America. Book of Mormon symposiums focused on Mesoamerica, with justified findings. The LDS Travel owners sponsor this conference. Last year was the first. Focus has been mainly the scriptures and the prophets statements. Some split off saying you can only do DNA. Some say you can’t tell MesoAmericans that they are not Lamanites. This gets complicated.
Sacred sites. David grew up as in Colorado City after his father apostatized and went to FLDS worship. In Colorado City it was preached that the LDS church was too corrupt and that the Savior would walk down the streets and the LDS wouldn’t even recognize Him. David remembers what he flet when he unknowingly met David O. McKay on Temple Square, which was a revelation to him on what was true and what was not. He ran away from Colorado City, joined the Church and served a mission to Scotland.
Adamondiahman. Has changed a lot in the prior decades. New Jerusalem will be built where the Garden of Eden was. The area to the south of AOA was south of the Garden. Why is AOH a well kept secret?
The name carried over from adamic language, one we have not been given a revealed, literal translation. A possible translation it, “The Lord Jesus Christ, through Adam unto mankind.”
Moses Ch. 5. These events happened in the AOA valley, according to JFS.
D&C 107:53-56. Lord appears. Adam, Enoch, Moses, all saw the beginning from the beginning to the end. Joseph Smith did to. One place, the Savior will return for a third time to AOA, and it will not be destructive, it will be glorious.
D&C 116. Daniel 7:13-14.
you can stand on the spot today and the Church owns the land all the way around. Massive water tank under there to supply up to half million people. When buying property, leased it back out. The Church reserves the right to recover the land and take tenancy in 24 hours. There are 2-3 Samoan wards there. Some of his relatives have already moved there. It is a difficult place to teach about. He feels it is the most sacred site on this Earth.
He’s spent months upon months on tour ships to western Caribean, and watched many LDS tour guides proclaiming the Mesoamerican sites as authentic Book of Mormon sites. David Beagley believes the North American setting is right, for the Book of Mormon.
Steven E. Smoot, Mound Builders; The Lost Civilzations of North America. http://www.lostcivilizationdvd.com
The mound builders were on the radar as the west was settled but was largely hushed up due to policy reasons related to the treatment of Native Americans. Squire and Davis surveyed 800 of the mounds in the region. Hopewell Interaction Shpere.
Roger G. Kennedy book: Hidden Cities. Kohokia site. Many leading scholars have very little understanding or knowledge about the sites in North America. Most are lost b/c we haven’t valued them, respected them, or even understood them. Coupled with the social agenda, these sites have been ignored and lost. The late 1800s surveyed were invaluable. The Hebrew mound with the lamp and the mennorah, was eradicated by the army corps of engineers, who wiped it clean. Squire and Davis offered the book to the Smithsonian in 1847. They had 6,000 artifacts from their travels. There were clearly on the radar screen. What happened?
I think: Stone is sexier than dirt. Plus, Stephens and Catherwood’s publication on the Mayan ruins was near this time.
Three men formed the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences: EG Squires, Lewis henry Morgan, John Wesley Powell.
Squires was a big manifest destiny guy. His tone changed after he got into politics later in life, and he became an ambassador. Morgan was the father of American anthropology. he was from upstate New York, born in 1818. made money in the railroad and mining industries, exploiting land taken from Native Americans. Powell, was mentored by Morgan. Powell was also from New York. Squires and Powell’s fathers were Methodist ministers when the Book of Mormon came off the press. They understood a point of view regarding Joseph Smith and the claims made by the Prophet.
Powell Doctrine: The American father of conservation. Professor at Wesleyan U. in Illinois. Started the Illinois Historical Society. He got grants to oversee Native American affairs in the west. He did a lot of survey work, looking for reservation sites in the Four Corners area. He even did explorations on the mounds in the midwest. He knew Mormon claims about the mounds. He hated to see so much settlement in the west. He ran the Colorado, went back a hero. In 1879 he became director of the ethnology dept. of the Smithsonian. In 1881, he was made director over US Geological Surveys, which included Mound Builder exploration. also was a force in the Army Corps of Engineers.
American Expansionism, Manifest Destiny. Darwin influenced Morgan. Evolution of man from savagry helped justify what the nation did to the Native Americans. When Joseph Smith is teaching Lamanites as lost israelites, this is counter to the doctrine of Manifest Destiny and how the Indians were treated. (However, see 1 nep 13 regarding the prophecies regarding the seed of Nephi’s brethren, the Lamanites, at the hands of the gentiles.)
1894: Cyrus Thomas Report, “The Mound Explorations of the Bureau of Ethnology,” Under direction of Powell. This was a bit of a death blow against the true nature of the mound builders. Powell wanted to “put to rest the matter of the identity of those people.” The effect was to rob the Natives of their own history and accomplishments in past centuries. Manifest Destiny, Religion and Evolutionary Science influence the silence surrounding thee ancient civilizations. These are early, successful attempts at social engineering.
We’ve seen the sciences used as an effective tool to silence public debate, such as global warming. Labels can be used effectively to denigrate and work social changes by confusing the public. Glenn Beck promoted the documentary and the website got 37,000 hits the following weeks. The history channel has dusted off an old documentary called, “Who Really Discovered America?” Shows all the prior cultures who reached the shores before Columbus. National Geographic in January started talking about the Mounds and the wanton destruction that took place.
Documentary: The Lost Civilizations of North America.
The theory of Cultural Evolution underpinned the mainstream thinking, demonstrated by Lewis Henry Morgan. This labeled the Natives as savages and the religious leaders with different ideas as barbaric. The extremes are demonstrated by Morgan on one side and the claims made by Joseph Smith.
Take care not to inflate this conflict however. Squiers defended the intellecutal capability of Native Americans. He argued that cultures so diverse in North American and Meso America couldn’t be savage. Later in his diplomatic career, he was an agent of American expansion and his tone changed to immutable scientific laws. He internalized a justification for American expansion which altered his views of intellectual capacity of native Americans.
Bat Creek stone, published upside down. It is Phonecian writing.
Micmac and Egyptian share some common symbols.
Five mitochondrial DNA lineages in hopewell graves, and in living natives: Haplogroup X. This establishes the linkage to the Hopewells of many Native Americans. This DNA also traces back to (Haplogroup Xa) This form of Haplogroup X is not found in Europe or Asia. It is found in more distant, ancient ancestry, 30-40 million years, Middle East. A land bridge migration to upper great plains.
DNA evidence: X2 is absent from Siberia,. Need more focus to look to recreate the migrations that first brought humans to all corners of the globe. Donald yates is the DNA guy. He’s also a Cherokee and a practicing Jew. Haplogroup X is predominate in Great Lakes Indians. Origin of Haplo group X originated in Hills of Galilee: Rod Meldrum. 2000 years ago vs. 40,000 years ago. The academics are waging war.

Thanks for putting online the notes!
Your other post mentioned you were unconvinced and that you are reading a book by a number of Mesotheorists.
I would point out some contradictions from the conference and a question.
1. They say the Narrow Neck of land is Niagara and part of Book of Mormon lands are in Canada – that is outside of the United
States.
2. The prophecy of a New Jerusalem coming down to Jaredite land would also be outside of the United States.
3. There are no kings on BoM lands which rules Canada and Mexico.
4. All land prophecies were fulfilled in Colonial America which excludes Missouri – sorry, the real Zarahemla was not by the Mississippi River and was less than a day’s walk from the East Sea. May/Porter/Meldrum cannot explain the absence of a sea west and east of their proposed City of Zarahemla.
Questions for Mesotheorists:
1. Why do they ignore the land prophecies?
2. Why do they ignore official church history and church canon regarding the location of the final Nephite battle and the name of Cumorah in Palmyra?
